I use Rogue Amoeba’s Loopback to create a custom audio input for use by OBS, but Streamlabs also suggests that you can use the free iShowU to do much the same thing. While it doesn’t offer some of the precision layout tools that Wirecast does-I’d like to be able to specify the exact size of objects on the canvas-it’s got some nice shortcuts that make it easy for me to create a new layout in a hurry.Īudio capture can be an issue. But it somehow seems better integrated with streaming services like Twitch and YouTube than Wirecast does. (It’s powered by the OBS engine, an open-source streaming system I’ve tried a couple of times and always felt way too rough for me to want to use.) Streamlabs OBS is open source, free, and I think I like it better than Wirecast.ĭoes Streamlabs OBS have rough edges? Sure it does. Wirecast would likely work and probably take care of it all for me.Audio Hijack would also give me the benefit of being able to record my audio in case I wanted to do an audio podcast with whatever I'm streaming. Audio Hijack by Rogue Amoeba - is what I might try next if I can't figure out a way to get iShowU Audio Capture to play nicely with everything else.It didn't seem to help and for $75USD (currently over $100CAD), it seemed unlikely to be helpful in my situation. Loopback by Rogue Amoeba - They were very helpful in attempting to figure out some of my issues.Sound Siphon - this seems to work ok except it doesn't seem to quite work.iShow U Audio Capture - free and seems to work except for the last issue.Screenshot of OBS and Other Software Settings Open up the Audio MIDI Setup app from Applications > Utilities. I just can't get their audio to be piped through to OBS and out to Twitch/YouTube. The audio call works fine and I can hear them, they can hear me. I seem to have gotten the first 3 items working ok - it's just when I add in an audio call with someone that it breaks down. If you check out my Twitch channel, you should be able to see a few videos there showing what I mean. Send audio from a Discord or Skype call with a friend to Twitch.
